Why I Want To Write Erotica That Goes Somewhere

(Read The Teacher.)

Most erotica treat relationships like fast food.

Quick. Disposable. Forgotten by morning.

But I feel the best intimate scenes have you caring about what happens next.

Will they fall in love? Have a pregnancy scare? Fight about whose turn it is to do the dishes?

You know the characters are building something if you can picture them gray-haired on a porch swing.

Then every touch carries weight.

Every kiss is a promise.

Every vulnerable moment shapes their future.

Authentic Moments

I like to write authentic behavior. Quirky characters.

Even my wealthy characters (in the erotic novel I’m writing now) prefer the ordinary life.

Characters get nervous before sex.

They laugh at awkward moments.

They talk. About boundaries, fantasies. Kids. Pets. Parents. Things their ex used to do.

The sex isn’t choreographed and sometimes get interrupted, even if it’s by a spider that chooses to appear at the most inconvenient time.

The Relationship Part

I write the conversations about what’s important to them in life. How they will tell others about a controversial relationship.

I show them supporting each other during difficult times.

My couples don’t just have great chemistry in bed.

They choose each other. Through job losses, healthscares and the unimportant daily realities.

They grow into the kind of people who can handle forever.

Readers Want Hope

Readers want to see that deep intimacy and lasting love aren’t mutually exclusive. That real relationships can be both comfortable and electric.

That you can know someone’s worst habits and still want to wake up next to them for the next fifty years.

I want to write stories about building something beautiful.

Stories that show intimacy as a language couples learn together, over years, and sometimes difficult times.

In a world where everything is temporary, people are still starving for stories about forever.

That’s the ultimate fantasy.
